The Light We Kept (“we”, “us”) helps you animate, restore, and lovingly edit your photos using AI. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We’ve tried to keep it plain. Questions? Email hello@thelightwekept.com.

1. Information we collect

Photos you upload — the images you give us to create your keepsake.
Basic technical data — such as your IP address and request counts, used to run the service and prevent abuse of free creations.
Payment information — if you buy, payments are handled by our payment provider Stripe; we do not store your full card details.
Messages — anything you send us, such as support emails.

2. How we use your information

To create the keepsake you ask for (animate, restore, or add a loved one).
To operate, secure, and improve the service.
To respond to you and provide support.

We do not sell your photos or personal information, and we do not use your photos to train AI models.

3. AI processing and third parties

To generate your keepsake, your uploaded photos are sent to our AI infrastructure provider, fal.ai, which processes them on our behalf to run the models. Your photos are processed solely to produce your result. We also use Stripe for payments and Render for hosting. These providers handle data under their own terms.

4. How long we keep your photos & deletion

We keep your uploaded photos and results only as long as needed to deliver and support your keepsake. You can ask us to delete your photos and results at any time by emailing hello@thelightwekept.com, and we’ll remove them from our systems within 30 days.

5. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take particular care given the personal and family nature of these photos.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK, or California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to certain uses of your data. Contact us to exercise them and we’ll respond as required by law.

7. Children

The Light We Kept is not directed to children and is intended for users 18 and over. Please don’t upload photos of children without the consent of a parent or guardian.

8. Photos of other people

Only upload photos you own or have permission to use, including of anyone identifiable in them. See our Terms of Service for more on acceptable use and consent.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. We’ll post the new version here and update the date above.
